We suggest the following responses –
Project 1 – Question the updated construction waste proposals as they would not cover the removal of material nor the necessary additional lorry movements. It would also not cover the noise impact of this as well as the climate change ramifications.
Project 2 – while the incinerator is removed from the plans which should reduce visual impact of a tall chimney and reduce pollution so close to residential areas. However, the transportation of waste needs to be addressed in the reassessment of lorry movements to and from the airport waste site.
Project 3 – , removal of MBBU is seen as a cost cutting exercise by the applicant. We see only negatives in the vast quantities of surface water that will come from new construction and the new runway which reed beds will not accommodate.
PINS process is about to start – Gatwick Airport’s new runway application Development Consent Order timetable is announced.
Important please read and action text in red.
If you registered with the planning inspectorate (PINS) you will have received an email about the procedure for how PINS will hear the evidence for why Gatwick Airport should be allowed to rebuild the emergency runway as a 2nd runway. Contact PINS email – GatwickAirport@planninginspectorate.gov.uk

WRITE (Annex B) – Gatwick Airport have highly skilled teams of staff working on this project 24/7 whereas residents/ communities are endeavouring to keep pace and understand the process, we therefore request to ensure that we have a full opportunity to respond that more time between hearings be permitted; visits to the sites of impact/ development are not far-reaching enough to allow inspectors to evaluate the full impact of a new runway; why are there not specific sessions on climate change, flooding/sewage, and air quality?; demand that CAGNE be permitted to attend the site visit to represent communities/ environment (7th March) to ensure Gatwick Airport management do not have undue influence over the PINS).
Please note that it may not be possible to participate or observe in person on the day if you have not registered with PINS beforehand. Please note a separate participation form will be published for the various Issue Specific Hearings at the same time as the agendas. PINS aim is to publish these agendas by 30 January on the project webpage.
